Inbox Notifications and Alerts

The Inbox is where Lockii surfaces events that need your attention: return issues, overdue hires, booking change requests, comment mentions, payment updates, and optional pickup and return confirmations. Lockii creates notifications automatically from booking activity. You do not need to watch individual bookings.

When you have the web dashboard open, Lockii also shows toast alerts in the bottom-right corner for new unread inbox items. Tap View on a toast to jump straight to the related booking or record.

In the app: Inbox

What lands in the Inbox

Common notification types include:

  • Return issues when a customer reports damage or a problem during return

  • Overdue bookings when a hire passes its end time without a return

  • Booking change requests when a customer asks to extend, change, or cancel

  • Comment mentions when a teammate @ mentions you on a booking or customer

  • Payment collected including successful Revenue Recovery retries

  • Booking picked up when a customer completes pickup without reporting an issue (opt-in)

  • Booking returned when a booking is fully returned on time without issues (opt-in)

Your notification preferences control which types you receive. Manage them from your profile settings in the web app or mobile app.

Mobile push alerts

On the Lockii mobile app, push notifications use sounds and delivery priority that match the event:

  • Revenue alerts (new bookings, extensions, collected payments, and paid change requests) play a distinct revenue sound so you can tell money came in without reading the notification.

  • Attention-required alerts (pickup or return issues, overdue hires, change requests waiting on you, and similar) are marked time-sensitive on supported devices so they break through quiet settings when something needs action.

Allow push notifications when you first sign in so alerts reach you on-site. You can still tune which event types you receive from Profile → Notifications.

Location-scoped notifications

If a team member only has access to certain locations, their Inbox shows notifications for those locations plus company-wide alerts (items not tied to a specific site).

This applies to built-in roles and custom roles. Each member only sees what their permissions allow.

Pickup and return alerts (opt-in)

Pickup and return alerts are off by default. Turn them on if you want confirmation when hires start and finish cleanly, without watching the schedule all day.

When enabled:

  • Booking Picked Up fires when a customer finishes pickup and does not flag a problem

  • Booking Returned fires when a booking is confirmed returned on time and without return-phase issues

Lockii still sends the higher-priority alerts you already rely on when something needs attention:

  • Pickup issues replace the picked-up alert

  • Return issues and late returns replace the returned alert

Quick guide (web app)

Review notifications in the Inbox

  1. Open Inbox from the sidebar.

  2. Click a notification to open the related booking, customer, or return details.

  3. Mark items as read as you work through them.

Toast alerts while you work

When the Lockii dashboard is open in your browser:

  1. A toast appears in the bottom-right when a new unread notification arrives.

  2. The toast shows the notification title and a short subtitle.

  3. Click View to open the item in the Inbox or jump to the related record.

  4. Toasts only appear for notifications created in the last few seconds, so you are not flooded with old items when you open the app.

Toasts complement the Inbox. They help you spot urgent items while you are already working in Lockii. Push notifications on mobile still alert you when you are away from the dashboard.

Quick guide (mobile app)

  1. Open the Inbox tab.

  2. Swipe left on a notification to mark it read or unread.

  3. Swipe right on a notification to delete it.

  4. Tap a notification to open the related booking or record.

  5. Allow push notifications when you first sign in so alerts reach you on-site.

Return notifications open the booking Forms screen. Booking notifications open Activity.

See Lockii Mobile App for the full mobile guide.

Tips

  • Handle booking change requests from the Inbox so paid changes do not sit pending.

  • Use @ mentions in booking comments instead of texting teammates separately. Mentions appear in the same Inbox as operational alerts.

  • Pair the Inbox with Revenue Recovery. Successful retries show up as payment notifications automatically.

  • Review return issues promptly. Photos and answers are already on the booking when the notification arrives.

  • Turn on pickup and return alerts if you want passive confirmation that hires started and ended cleanly. Leave them off if issue and overdue alerts are enough for your team.

  • Swipe right to delete old notifications on mobile when you want a clean inbox without marking everything as read first.
