Connecting SMS providers can be complex and costly depending on your country of origin and what you intend to send because of a litany of restrictions from countries and regulatory bodies.
Bird is the more complex of our SMS integration, and requires verification with them and carriers but gives you more control over the process and view into whats going.
Go to https://app.bird.com/auth/sign-up and signup for an account.
navigate to the Developer section on the sidebar
Select SMS Setup and follow the steps to setup a new SMS channel.
if your looking to get going quickly in the US a toll free number does not require the same verification process as a 10DLC number.
We recommend reading through the advice Bird provides as you setup to ascertain the cheapest and fastest way to get started for your service area.
After creating a channel and completing all the setup required for it, do a test SMS in the Bird editor to your phone to confirm its working.
Then, in bird head to the API & Access page, Create an API Key, and call it Lockii, Copy the API Key and save it to input into Lockii. using the role organisation admin.
Then, in bird head to the Settings > Workspaces and select your workspace, and copy the Workspace ID field, you'll need this.
Now you can open Lockii, go to Settings > Integrations > Bird and paste in both the API Key from earlier, and the Workspace ID, if either are invalid or dont match up an error down the bottom right will inform you.
If connected successfully your now good to setup your first SMS, if you have issues with SMS you can find these errors in Bird to gain insight into why your messages aren't arriving.
Ensure channels have been fully setup, messages wont send if they are requiring any form of verification, if your receiving a no coverage error its most likely your sending has not yet been reviewed.
Turn on link shortening in Bird, this reduces the likelihood your links will be seen as spam, and means you can brand them even further.
