Twilio Registration Requirements

Website and booking process steps to meet Twilio Registration Requirements.

In order to comply with Twilio’s 10DLC requirements, you’ll need to make some changes to your settings in Lockii and your website.

Changes In Lockii

  1. Update the wording of your checkout terms.

Navigate to Lockii Settings > Preferences to modify the Short Description to include:
I agree to the Rental Agreement and to receive transactional text messages regarding my rental. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help.

  2. (Optional) Update your contract to deal explicitly with SMS.

In the Full terms and conditions which includes your Rental agreement. You’ll need to add clause dealing with SMS opt in/out. This will change based on your specific jurisdiction, but Twilio requires that you:

    1. Honor Opt-outs: Immediately add users who reply "STOP" (or similar keywords) to a block list and stop sending promotional messages.

    2. Provide Instructions: Include clear opt-out instructions in your messages (e.g., "Reply STOP to opt out").

    3. No Blanket Consent: Consent cannot be forced or bundled into a general Terms of Service agreement.

A template Clause is as follows:

    SMS Notifications and Opt-Out

As part of your booking, you will receive one or more transactional SMS messages (such as booking confirmations, reminders, and pickup or return notices) at the mobile number you provide. These messages are necessary to manage your booking, and at least one initial message will be sent as part of completing it.

Consent to these messages is specific to your booking and is not bundled into, or a condition of, your acceptance of our general Terms of Service. You are not required to agree to marketing or promotional texts to make a booking.

You may opt out at any time by replying STOP (or END, QUIT, UNSUBSCRIBE, or CANCEL) to any message. Once you opt out, we will add your number to our block list and send no further SMS. Reply HELP for assistance or contact us at [support email / phone]. Message and data rates may apply.

We operate our messaging in compliance with the U.S. TCPA, CTIA guidelines, and the requirements of our provider, Twilio, and each message includes clear opt-out instructions (e.g., "Reply STOP to opt out").

Changes to Your Website

Your website should include a new page which deals with SMS Consent and Explicit Opt-In.

  1. SMS Messaging Policy

    A template example is here:

    SMS Messaging Policy

    Last updated:

This SMS Messaging Policy explains how [BUSINESS NAME] ("we," "us," or "our") sends text messages to customers in connection with bookings made through our website. Our booking and messaging services are powered by Lockii, and text messages are delivered through our messaging provider, Twilio. By making a booking, you agree to this policy.

    The messages we send

When you make a booking, you may receive one or more transactional SMS messages at the mobile number you provide. These are service messages tied to your booking, and may include:

    • Booking confirmations

    • Reminders (for example, upcoming pickup or return times)

    • Pickup, collection, and return notices

    • Identity or account verification links

    • Payment links, receipts, and payment-related notices

    • Important updates or changes to your booking

These messages are necessary to complete and manage your booking. At least one initial message will be sent as part of completing your booking. If you do not wish to receive any SMS messages, please contact us via our listed phone number or email address.

We do not send marketing or promotional text messages under this transactional program unless you have separately opted in to receive them.

    Consent

By providing your mobile number and completing a booking, you consent to receive the transactional SMS messages described above. This consent is specific to your booking and is not bundled into, or a condition of, your acceptance of our general Terms of Service or Privacy Policy. You are not required to agree to receive marketing or promotional texts in order to make a booking.

    Opting out

You may opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP (or END, QUIT, UNSUBSCRIBE, or CANCEL) to any message you receive from us.

Because the first transactional message is sent as part of completing your booking, opting out will not prevent that initial message, but once you reply STOP we will add your number to our block list and send you no further SMS messages. You may receive a single confirmation that you have been unsubscribed.

If you opt out, you remain responsible for managing your booking through other means (such as email or our website), since you will no longer receive SMS updates.

    Getting help

Reply HELP to any message for assistance, or contact us at [SUPPORT EMAIL] / [SUPPORT PHONE].

    Message frequency and cost

Message frequency varies based on your booking activity. Message and data rates may apply according to your mobile carrier's plan.

    Carriers and delivery

Messages are delivered through Twilio via participating mobile carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages, and delivery is not guaranteed in all areas or on all networks.

    Privacy

Your mobile number is used only to send the messages described in this policy and is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We do not sell your mobile number or share it with third parties for their own marketing. Your number is shared with our service providers (Lockii and Twilio) solely to deliver these messages.

    Compliance

We operate our SMS messaging in compliance with the U.S. Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), CTIA messaging guidelines, and the requirements of our messaging provider, Twilio. Every message we send includes clear opt-out instructions (for example, "Reply STOP to opt out").

    Changes to this policy

We may update this SMS Messaging Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when we post the updated policy on our website with a new "Last updated" date.
